21 weeks

Today is Christmas Eve! And I have been feeling really good lately! Lets hope not to jinx it. There are tons of gifts for Colin under the tree. I keep telling myself its ok to buy him so much, because this is the last Christmas Colin will be an only child. His big gift is a large wooden swing set. But we haven't gotten it together yet, and its supposed to be nasty weather on Xmas day anyway so we'll just wait until after Xmas to assemble it.

Colin has been very sick with a bad cold. He's been waking up very congested and we've been really tired because of it. I'm starting to get flashbacks of having a baby again and waking up every 2 hours. Colin's cold I think is spreading. I now have a sore throat and Cameron's feeling pretty bad too.

Nothing much to report on the baby front this week. The holidays have kept me pretty preoccupied and not much baby on the brain lately. We have to get started ok thinking of names and baby room themes.

Hope you all have a merry Christmas!

20 week sonogram

Today was my 20 week sonogram. They had me drink a bunch of water before my appointment to make sure that they could get a good view of the baby. But then they had me wait a long time and waiting with a full bladder is no fun. Finally they took us back and all bladder pain was forgotten when I saw my little baby on the screen.

She made us doubt our sureness that it was a boy by saying that they aren't always right at 13 weeks and that its really too early to tell. But she quickly confirmed that they were correct and we are expecting a bouncing baby boy!

He was so adorable already! I know he's no where near ready but he looked so perfect. I could make out his face and hands and feet. He kept rubbing his eyes. He must have been tired! And he was curled up into a little ball, most of the Tim with his feet by his head. He is already taking on some of his brothers gestures. He had his feet crossed at the ankles. Such a cutie!

After the sonogram we met with our doctor and she told us that the sonogram pictures were gorgeous and that things couldn't look more perfect! She said all of his organs looked great and his spinal cord and even my placenta was in a great spot! I am so thankful that he is growing so well and looking so healthy!!

Mom on the other hand is still having a hard time. I'm so sorry I didn't blog last week. I have been so sick and still don't feel great. I was out of work for 2.5 days with a stomach bug and now I think I've possibly developed IBS (irritable bowl syndrome). This is just a self diagnosis so far but I think 10 days of stomach issues and severe pain is too long for a stomach bug everyone else had for 24 hours. But I won't get into anymore detail because its just all TMI.

Today was the school shooting in CT. I was so shocked and sad when I heard about it and as details kept coming out. Being pregnant and hormonal and having a small child just really made it worse. I can't help but keep being horrified at how the parents must be feeling at this exact moment. How innocent those babies were and how scared they must have been. How there are empty beds tonight and christmas presents under trees never to be opened. I just cried and cried. Tried to imagine just how absolutely devastated I would be if I lost Colin. Especially in such a tragic way and knowing he went so scared. This will be a day that you never forget. Because something just unfathomable and terrible has happened. I'm racking up too many of those days in my lifetime and I'm only 29. I'm scared to see what other horrifying days lie ahead for all of us in our lifetimes. The things we will witness. All I can do for now is thank The Lord that Colin is sleeping soundly in his bed tonight and dreaming of Thomas the train and lightning McQueen.

Questions?

I try to wrack my brain every week and think of everything i'm feeling and experiencing, but if i'm leaving anything out or anyone has any questions, ill be glad to answer them!  You can text me if you have my # or post a comment on here with the question and ill do a new post with all the answers.  If not ill assume i'm doing a good enough job of keeping everyone informed! haha!

18 Weeks

Sorry I'm a little late with this post. I've got a lot on my mind with the holidays coming up!

I've been feeling a lot better lately, but strangely got very sick Monday and still don't feel great today. But I'm still very grateful that for the most part I've been feeling much much better.  And I'm glad I'm feeling better because my FMLA got denied by my company because my doctors office couldn't ever get the form filled out correctly after 6 times.  But my sick time starts over in January so hopefully I can make it until then and not miss any days.

My next appointment is Friday December 14th and it is a sonogram appointment so ill get to see the little baby again and make SURE its a boy.  Ill make sure and post the newest pic! I don't think, like last time, ill have the 4D sonogram.  I'm always tempted because it's another peek at the baby but it's kinda expensive.  A few hundred dollars I've heard.  If I was unsure of sex I probably would, but I don't have a good reason to right now besides just wanting to see the baby again.

So lately, about once a day, I've been feeling little butterfly movements inside.  It's enough that I can tell it's definitely the baby and not gas or digestion. They are very light but are there for sure. So I try to be very still when I feel that and soak up the moment.  I can't wait to feel them more firmly when the baby gets bigger. I really enjoyed that when I was pregnant with Colin; I loved feeling him move all around (when it wasn't painful).

I've been having some troubles sleeping some nights.  It's either waking up to go to the bathroom, my lower back hurting, or leg cramps.  I've been considering getting a pregnancy yoga video to do before bed to make sure my legs and back are (safely) stretched out so I can be, hopefully, more comfortable. That won't help the bathroom trips, but if I can only get up for that, I'd be happy!

Thanks for reading!

17 weeks

It feels like I have been pregnant for a really long time. I can't believe that I'm not even half way yet. Hopefully the second half will zip by (yeah right).

I've been feeling better mostly. I still get nauseated everyday, but my medicine actually works now. My nausea has become manageable enough that my medicine works when I take it.

My stomach feels like its going to pop. I know it's going to get a lot bigger but so far I feel like there's not a spare inch.

I put up my Christmas decorations today but it took me a long time and I didn't get to the outside. I go pretty slow and have to take lots of breaks. I'm pretty much exhausted all the time and can fall asleep anytime anywhere.

After the first of the year we are going to change over the guest room and paint it, get it ready for the baby. We're also going to work on Colin's potty training and big boy bed.

My next appointment is Friday December 14th and ill have another sonogram. It'll be my last sonogram unless there is a medical reason. They will verify the sex and take measurements of everything to make sure things are growing properly.

I guess that's all for now. See you next week.

16 weeks appointment

My 16 week appointment was really quick and uneventful. They took some blood and listened to the heart beat. It was in the 130s which she said was completely normal. We talked about my next appointment which is the 2" weeks sonogram appointment where they take measurements of the baby to make sure things are the right size and look good and verify the gender.

16 weeks

Today I went and visited my cousin Tara in the hospital. She just had a baby girl Friday afternoon who is very close to the same size Colin was when he was born. Going and holding her today and remembering what it was like to hold my new born Colin bear made my own pregnancy very real. I still have a while to go but it will be here before you know it and ill be holding my own little bitty baby.

I have an appointment tomorrow with my OB. I think it will be pretty short and to the point. Just a heart beat check with the Doppler. The next appointment after that is my 20 week and ill get another sonogram to confirm the sex.

I got my results back from my last sonogram at 13 weeks and everything was great. I'm very low risk for the baby having Down syndrome or either trisomies.

I've been feeling pretty good this week but as I have learned the hard way, that is no indication of how Monday morning could be, which for some reason seems to be my worst day every week. I'm still waiting to hear back about my FMLA. It'll be the new year and I won't need it by the time it gets approved.

Earlier this week I woke up and my ankle was hurting really bad. It felt sprained. I thought I must have done something to it in my sleep. The next day it was worse and there was a red circle forming on the inside of my ankle. And my whole ankle was swollen on both sides. I made a doctors appointment for Friday but was directed by my OB to go to urgent care. There I found out I had a skin infection, cellulitis. I was prescribed an antibiotic to take for 10 days plus Tylenol and heat on the ankle. It's feeling a little better now but is still slightly swollen and aches when I stand too long. So hopefully that clears up soon.

Ill make another post tomorrow about how my doctors appointment went. I'm crossing my fingers that I won't be sick on thanksgiving and can enjoy all that yummy food!!!

15 weeks

Sorry this is a little late! I was pretty tired on Sunday and I think that equated to me being very sick on Monday. If I had written this post when I was supposed to- on Sunday, I would have told you that I felt like I was turning a corner and feeling better. But now, after being sick all day and having to miss work I'd have to say that corner seems very far away right now. It's very discouraging to be sick today, and panic is starting to set in that this may last a lot longer than I want it to. I want to write about fun things like names and nursery themes but this sickness just consumes me and I can't focus on the future, only getting through the day I'm in. I have applied for intermittent FMLA because I'm out of sick time. It will renew in January but today proves that I can't control this sickness and never know when I'll need to be off work. I hope it gets approved soon because I don't have a single hour of sick time left.

My doctors office has been very incompetent with any sort of paper work, so these FMLA forms are proving to be tricky for them. The FMLA office says this is very normal and many pregnant women apply for intermittent FMLA for doctors appointments and physical issues but my doctors office can't seem to get the form right. They checked 'No' on the question that asked if I have any further appointments for my medical issue and 'No' on if I have any flare ups that keep me from performing my job duties. So I was denied the first time. After explaining what those things meant to the secretary that was filling out my medical forms (I know... Why is a secretary filling out my medical forms???) she resubmitted them. So lets hope they are approved soon. If I didn't have a history with this dr and I wasn't already this far along, I would really look into getting a new dr. I had a bad feeling when I came in for my first appointment and didn't recognize anyone but the doctor. Her entire staff had turned over. So lets cross our fingers and hope that the rest goes smoothly.

14 Weeks

The baby is as big as a navel orange this week! My belly is definitely feeling tighter and bigger.  All my organs are starting to feel squished and thats going to keep getting worse. I have started to feel a little better this week, though I still have nausea everyday.  But it's definitely more manageable and I don't feel like i'm about to die all the time. haha. I hope that this continues to get better until it finally goes away for good.

I have started to think of names since we are now pretty sure that its a boy. But its so difficult to imagine calling him anything. Every name sounds so weird. Like I can't imagine that actually being his name.  It took so long to figure out what Colin's name would be, i'm kinda dreading the naming process of this one because Cameron and I have such different ideas of what we want. I've also been thinking of nursery themes.  I usually like something sweet and light and Cameron likes sports and an older boy look. We bascially don't meet eye to eye on a lot when it comes to design stuff, so it's difficult to find middle ground. But it's still all very exciting to be planning for little brothers arrival.

First trimester screening

I went to a specialist doctor in Plano to get testing called a first trimester screening. This is a blood test and sonogram to test for down syndrome and trisomy 21 and 18. The sonogram showed that everything looked completely normal for all measurements regarding down syndrome. And for the trisomy blood test will be back early next week.

Also during this sonogram, they can possibly tell the gender of the baby if the baby cooperates. So the doctor said that she would only tell me if she was 95% sure. Otherwise we would have to wait to know till our 20 weeks appointment. She very quickly moved the sonogram to the side of my belly and said... This looks like a little brother! So most likely another boy for us!

13 weeks

I have officially completed my first trimester. Yea! My pregnancy books say that most women start feeling better by now. I guess I'm not most women. But I have noticed a few more better days than worse days lately. My belly is starting to protrude more and my organs are starting to feel smashed. That's just going to keep getting worse but I'll take it over nausea any day. One pregnancy symptom that hasn't wavered at all is my fatigue. I could sleep at any time.

I really think i felt a little bump from the baby tonight, but the baby books say its too early to feel anything. So unless the baby really hurled its self across my uterus, I may have been imagining it.

Cameron has been out of town for work most of this week and he came back on Saturday. I am so glad he's back. He does so much for our family when I'm sick. I was really sick today. Maybe my body was holding out until he came home. Because there's not an option to be sick in bed when you have a two year old.

This Thursday I have a first trimester screening at 11:30. I didn't have this when I was pregnancy with Colin. I didn't really feel that I needed it. It tests for down syndrome and trisomy 13 & 18. This time I'm doing it for mostly selfish reasons. I have heard that you get a really amazing sonogram that's really clear. And I've also heard that sometimes if the baby cooperates, they can give you a pretty good guess at the sex of the baby. So that's pretty exciting. I'll be seeing a dr in Plano. She mostly does high risk pregnancies and these special sonograms. So you will all get an extra update again this week! I haven't decided if I'll share their prediction on the sex yet. Or wait till the 20 weeks when its for sure. I guess we'll all know by Thursday. :)

12 week dr appointment

Today was my 12 week dr appointment. It was pretty simple- in and out like I thought. I heard the baby's heart beat. My doctor said good and strong in the 160 bpm range. She said I should have started feeling better already, I told her I have not. If anything I've had some spells lately that have been really bad. But I reminded her that my nausea lasted nearly 16 weeks last time. She suggested I try some B vitamins. So I'll have to pick that up. I had my blood drawn for some testing. Normal things like the required HIV testing and thyroid testing. I also elected to get genetic testing done which includes a sonogram that must be done next week. So I'll make an appointment first thing tomorrow because the sono must be done within the 12-13 week range.

I made my next appointment for the Monday before thanksgiving. I think that's November 19th. And then the NEXT appointment will be the gender sono appointment!! Yea!

12 weeks

Today I turn 12 weeks prego. I'm excited that this is the last week of my first trimester, but all excitement is laced with miserable nausea. I'm hoping that it starts lightening up soon and then disappears completely. When it lasts weeks and weeks on end, it's a little depressing. And I know everyone is tired of hearing me talk about it. But I'm just as tired of saying it- and MORE tired of feeling it. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I feel like no one understands what I'm going through and are getting frustrated or annoyed that I can't do the same things I usually do. I can't get through blow drying my hair without stopping to take a break and sit down half way through. I'm super tired and turn sick on a dime so it's hard to commit to do anything. And nothing sounds fun in addition to that, when u can't eat and you have to be sitting down all the time.

Ok- enough of the griping (I'm tired of hearing it too). A positive thing about this coming week is that I have another doctors appointment. On wednesday I get to hear the baby's heart beat for the first time. Besides that, I don't think there's much going on this appointment- but I'm still excited.

I know some doctors can tell the sex of the baby at 16 weeks but my doctor does it at 20 weeks. Which is 8 weeks from now. I guess I could ask my doctor if I could bump it up but she doesn't seem to type to budge on stuff like that. So at the latest (and if baby 2 cooperates) we'll know in 8 weeks.

I don't feel any movement yet, but it's still really early. Baby2 is still developing the arms and legs to pound away with later on.

I'll update my blog again after my appointment on Wednesday. Just to let you know any info I find out.

11 weeks

Today I am 11 weeks. I have still been very sick. I am very ready for this first trimester to be over. Very ready to stop being sick.

The baby this week is the size of a large plum. And my belly seems to have grown a little bit.

I don't have much to report this week so I'll just post this weeks picture and hopefully have a better report next week.

Love you all!

10 weeks

Double digits! Woo hoo! And 1 week closer to being out of my first trimester! The nausea is definitely still there for me. A lot. But it hasn't been constantly like weeks prior. Which is such a relief even though I still am sick many times a day. I'm hoping it just keeps getting better and better. With my new found breaks from the nausea I'm trying to do more, actually get out of the house. But I find that I tire very easily. I'm not sure if it's from just normal pregnancy fatigue or if it's because I've spent the past few weeks in bed most of the time. I feel renewed this week because the nausea has lightened up on me and we had our first cold snap. We actually had to turn the heat on, and I have all sorts of yummy warm fall scents burning in my scentsys. I may even put up a couple Halloween decor items this week.

According to 'what to expect' the baby is a little more than 2 inches. It's hard to believe that this 2 inch teeny thing has already put me through so much trouble!!

We are thinking about maybe switching Colin to a toddler bed soon, but I feel like he is just going to think- hey wait a minute! I don't have to stay in here! We're going to have to get some sort of child lock on his door because I don't want him out roaming the house at night while we're sleeping. Scary!

My next dr appointment is October 24th. We should be able to hear the heart beat then, but no sonogram or anything. But I'll update you on any info from that I get.

9 weeks

Well I didn't think it could get worse but that's what I get for thinking. My nausea is basically making me miserable and I stay in bed if I'm not working. There should only be a few more weeks of this, but that seems like so long. Thank goodness I have Cameron to help me and make me food that I don't eat and take care of Colin. I feel like I have hardly spent time with Colin and that makes me sad.

On a happy note, Colin has been ridiculously cute lately. He is chattering up a storm. It's nice to know what he's actually wanting and feeling and needing. I don't think I had smiled once today until I saw Colin chasing the dust in the sun shining in the house. He was having a great time giggling and squealing and running around entertaining himself. I love him so much.

So here's hoping to brighter days to come and less nausea.

I haven't added a picture yet. But I will try to take one tomorrow and add it to this post.

First dr appointment

This afternoon was my first doctors appointment! I got my little goodie bag of pregnancy things like prenatal vitamins and a picture of my little baby!

She said that everything looked really good, she saw good cardiac activity. She said she was getting a measurement of 7 weeks and 4 or 5 days, but she said that she didn't think that baby was cooperating and laying sideways so she could get a good measurement. So it was probably a little older. She set my due date at May 6, 2013. She also gave me a prescription for zofran which is an anti nausea medicine. I had this last time and it worked a little, but right now a little is better than nothing. It seems like my nausea gets worse with each day that goes by. Today was a really horrible day for tiredness and sickness.

So that's all I can really remember. She just said that it looked like a good healthy baby and Colin was going to have a brother or sister! Oh and that he had a really good looking yolk sack, whatever that is! Haha.

8 weeks

Sick. Sick. And more sick. I was super optimistic that this pregnancy was going to be easier and I was going to have less morning sickness then the last one. And that's not the case. Today the only reason I got out of bed was to take the picture for this post. They say it goes away at around 12-14 weeks. And while it's exciting that there's a light at the end of this tunnel, I cant imagine feeling this way for 4-6 more weeks.

In other news, my first doctor appointment is this Tuesday at 1:30 pm. I'm ready to know that everything looks good and to get a picture of my little darling that's making me so sick.

So feel free to send any prayers, positive thoughts, good vibes or anything else you have up your sleeve that may alleviate some of this sickness.

Love you all!

7 weeks

Well, I knew it was too good to be true. I have been so sick the past 3 days and I don't see an end in sight. I am just in a feeling of all over sluggishness and a wave a nausea that won't go away. Nothing sounds good to eat. Though eating does seem to help. It's just hard to put food in my mouth when I don't feel like its going to stay long. I had hoped this pregnancy would be different, but nope! I just hope it doesn't last into my second trimester like last time.

The baby is only as big as a blueberry, but that blueberry is wreaking havoc on my body. The first trimester is my least favorite. Not only the morning sickness, but you don't get any of the benefits. Like feeling the baby move, or a noticeable difference in belly size. But (hopefully) this part will be over before I know it and I can get on with enjoying my pregnancy.

Sorry to sound like a Debbie downer. Maybe I'll be much chipper next week! :)

6 weeks

So today is 6 weeks. It feels like forever since I found out I was pregnant, but pregnancy time creeps along at a snails pace.

Feeling really good still. It's almost too good to believe. I have only a few pregnancy symptoms. Still the fatigue. My eye lids are drooping as I type this. And this week a lot of soreness in my chest. Which Colin loves to dive bomb and make it worse. I'm not having any cravings yet really. Sticking to my usual diet. Minus caffeine. Oh how I miss caffeine. And I'm not sure If it's the lack of caffeine or pregnant brain but I cannot get going at work lately.

They say pregnancies are always different, and so far this one is for sure. Seems like everything but the fatigue is opposite from last time. Does that mean its a girl? Or is it just different?

Today we went to Lila's first birthday party, my best friends daughter. While I looked at adorable little Lila in her adorable dress and her adorable pig tails I thought, I'm so glad I'm having another so I can experience this all again. Then 20 minutes later when Colin's sitting in his second time out of the two hour party and having a screaming fit, I'm thinking... What have I gotten my self into! I have to experience this all again!! Oh well. One day at a time I guess.

Sunday, September 2, 2012

5 weeks

According to 'What to Expect' I'm 5 weeks pregnant today. This may change when I go to my first appointment September 25, but until then, I'll go with this time line. So far I haven't had any morning sickness. And I am so thankful for that since last time it was very difficult. But it's still early so I'm keeping a cautious eye out for that. My belly doesn't look like its growing, but it feels like it inside. Other than that, the only real pregnancy symptom I'm feeling so far is fatigue. No bed time is too early for me!

I'll keep it short and sweet since its still early in this long process. I'll TRY to update every week :) or anytime I find out new information.
