26 Weeks

Wow this is really late. I'm really sorry it's taken me so long to get on here and post!  This week at work we have had our job duties change and yesterday we moved desks as well. Lots of changes that have put me behind.

I have still been feeling really good. No more morning sickness so far (fingers crossed it doesnt come back).  I haven't been as tired either which I am so thankful for! It's hard to work full time and have a toddler when all you want to do is sleep!

Last weekend we spent almost all day cleaning out closets, reorganizing the garage, and cleaning out the guest bedroom to get it ready to paint.  Cameron was supposed to put together Colin's playset on Sunday but of course the weather was bad, AGAIN!  This weekend we're hoping to get that together and finish up with the guest bedroom.  I'm going this weekend to get some paint samples to see what color we want to paint it hopefully next weekend. I'm going to post a pic of the wall appliques that I bought to go in the room. The colors i'm doing are gray, baby blue, brown, tan and white. And the theme is animals- but all in soft colors. No bright colors.

My belly is getting bigger obviously. But it FEELS really big.  Like maybe the baby is pushing outward.  I feel like my belly is a balloon thats about to pop these days.  It's still going to keep getting bigger obviously but I wonder if it feels tight at times because he's going through a growth spurt.  Also a pregnancy symptom has returned that I remember from last time, not being able to breathe! I feel like my belly is crushing my lungs.

The family baby shower we had planned for this past weekend got canceled because my aunt had to have an emergency surgery. She's back at home now and recovering but it was scary for a while that something bad could happen to her. There was a risk of paralysis from the surgery she needed but the surgery went sucessfully thank goodness.  Now she just has to go through a difficult recovery but hopefully in a few months she'll be back to herself again.

Colin has been going through something lately and i'm ready for him to be through it. He says no to EVERYTHING and doesn't want to follow directions at all.  So it's just very difficult to get through a normal day when he refuses to eat dinner, brush his teeth, take a bath, put on pajamas and get into bed. Each of these things we  try to do in the evening results in a 5 minute or so temper tantrum.  So from 6pm-7pm throwing 5 or so 5 minute fits gets very tiring until I nearly lose it. Or sometimes totally lose it.  I'm hoping that he gets through this phase before the baby comes because he requires my complete attention when he acts like this.

I'll try to update earlier next week.  Have a great weekend!

25 weeks

We just got back from our mini family vacation in Austin. It was a great weekend!! We went to the park, rode a mini train, went to a circus, swam in the indoor pool, went to a children's museum, ate at a lot of great restaurants and even had a date night out to a fancy steak house! It was a busy but awesome weekend. The baby was very kind to me and I felt great all weekend. I was able to eat lots of good food. It was so awesome to have a whole breakfast buffet for free right downstairs and being pregnant I took full advantage of that. They even had an omelet/egg station. I got tired a lot but compared to the morning sickness I used to have- ill gladly take it. I just had to find places to sit down and let Cameron run around with Colin.

My next appointment is February 7th. It'll be my 28 week appointment. Which I think is just going to be a heart beat check and belly measurement. Speaking of belly size. It's getting a lot bigger. I have a hard time bending over and it always seems in the way. Cameron has been really good about doing all the bending and heavy lifting tho. He really has made this while pregnancy a lot easier by picking up so much of the slack I've be dropping. The baby has been moving like crazy.

Today after we got home and unpacked and finally sat down, the baby was kicking away. I asked Colin, where's the baby? And he looked at my belly. I asked him a few more times and finally he came over and pointed to my belly. But I still didn't think he understood that there was a baby in there. I think he thought I was just calling my belly 'baby'. So I asked him if he wanted to feel the baby? He didn't know what I was talking about so I grabbed his hand and put it on my belly. The baby kicked hard 3 times right on his hand. He looked at me very confused. I told him several more times that it was the baby that was in my belly. I don't know if he got it totally but it seemed like there was more understanding there. I asked him if he wanted to feel it again. He did not, hahaha!

This weekend we're doing a little family shower at our monthly family dinner. It is exciting and makes it seem so close to being here. After our trip we decided that we needed to crack down on our to do list of things to get done around the house. So starting next weekend we're going to start on cleaning out the guest bedroom so we can get started on decorating and creating a nursery! The fun part!!

24 weeks

I feel like a new woman lately! I forgot how feeling good feels! I'm hoping to soon forget how feeling that bad feels. Everything is going really good and not much to report. The baby is super active right around bedtime. I lay in bed a make Cameron watch my belly jump and bounce and morph into different shapes. So he must be getting bigger and stronger! Maybe it's all the yummy food I've been able to get down lately. I'm still down 8lbs since I got pregnant, but I'm slowly gaining it back.

Colin's been doing good with his big boy bed. He gets out a lot and gets lots of things to take back to his bed. I have to clear out 6 blankets, 10 books, 7 trains, and 5 stuffed animals every night, but I still consider it somewhat successful because he doesn't cry at all and knows he's supposed to stay in bed. He hurries and gets whatever he's wanting ad then scurries back to bed. So now I just have to cut back the number of times he gets out. We're going to Austin this weekend for a little weekend trip. I think after we get back in town and back into our routine we may try potty training. Wish us luck on that!! It would be nice to have one out of diapers by the time we get another one In diapers.

24 weeks appointment

Today was my 24 week appointment. I had to drink a super sugary drink 30 minutes before my appointment and then go in and get my blood drawn. My doctor goes by the 'no news is good news' policy so I won't hear anything if everything is normal. I also had her test for fragile x syndrome today. My great grandfather was a carrier for fragile x and passed it to some of his kids. I don't think it was passed to my grandmother since no evidence has ever shown up in our family line, but I wanted to be tested just in case. So if I'm negative for it, I'll know that Colin and baby 2 will not get it, carry it or pass it on.

I also heard the heartbeat again. It was in the 120s which is normal. But much slower than Colin's. Colin's BPM was always in the 160s and this baby is always in the 120s and 130s. She also measured my belly size for growth and that was right on track.

Today we also toured a preschool for Colin to attend in the fall. He would be in the early 3s class that goes 3 days a week 9-2. It's a pretty popular place. So enrollment is one day, and goes by a lottery system. You draw a # and if your # is chosen you get to enroll. We liked it, so we will be putting our selves in for the lottery drawing on feb 7th.

23 weeks

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! I have been feeling so much better lately! I have had a healthy appetite and have had more energy lately. I've forgotten about how it feels to feel good. Let hope and pray it lasts.

I have been feeling the baby move a ton. Cameron can feel it from the outside now, and if you watch close you can see my belly move and jump from him bouncing around inside.

At my next appointment I have my glucose screening. I will drink a sugary drink about 30 minutes before my appointment and they will draw blood to test my sugar levels to see if I have gestational diabetes. Last time I was completely normal so I'm not worried about it this time. I also think at this appointment that she will measure my belly to make sure I'm on track for his growth.

At work we found out that we get a free day off for meeting department goals the Friday before MLK day. And we also get MLK day off so that makes a four day weekend. So we decided that we would make a little weekend trip out of it. We won't be able to travel again for a while because I'll be too big and too pregnant and then we'll have a infant shortly after that and won't be able to travel either. So we're taking one final family of 3 vacation to Austin. We'll swim in the indoor pool, visit the children's museum, ride the zephyr train in the park and eat at some fun restaurants Colin's will enjoy. It will be a very nice family weekend and now that I'm feeling better, I'll be able to really enjoy it!

On Friday we moved the crib out of Colin's room and put in a toddler bed. He's been doing so good about going to bed and lay down and sleep at nap time. But he's also been so adorable cute to watch on the monitor as he sneaks another book into bed or slip to the closet to get more blankets. Cameron will head upstairs to put him back in bed and Colin will hear him coming and haul it back into bed as quick as he can. It's so cute!

Until next week...

22 weeks

Today is New Year's Day! We took down all the Christmas stuff, reorganized the closet, and cleaned the whole downstairs. I even vacuumed behind the couch! I'm pretty tired now but glad it's all done in one day and I didn't drag it out over a week like I wanted to because I'm so slow now.

I have had a sinus infection for the past week, but other than that, pregnancy wise I've been feeling pretty good. I did have morning sickness Monday morning and had to leave work early, but I think that was because I started trying to take prenatals again. I wanted to give it another stab because I do feel guilty not taking them, but I can't take them more than a few days before I start throwing up every day.

I'm starting to have pregnancy cravings. It's the same thing as last time. I don't crave anything weird, I just want whatever I see. If I see a commercial for baby back ribs, I have to have baby back ribs.

By belly is getting bigger, and I feel the baby moving a lot. It feels different than last time. With Colin it was sharp kicks to the belly all the time. With this baby it feel more like a fish flopping around. Like he's doing somersaults in there.

My pregnancy calendar says he's a little over a pound and about 8 inches long. And that his weight will double over the next 4 weeks.

Friday we start the transition over to a toddler bed for Colin. I'm a little nervous and need to look into precautions. I'm worried about being asleep and him roaming around or playing with his toys in the night with out there to make sure he's safe. I'm sure it'll be fine. It's just hard seeing him grow up! Potty training will soon follow. I'm losing my baby boy!!
